This workshop will provide an overview of the Environmental Review Process and regulatory updates. The first part of the session will discuss Indigenous Services Canada’s Environmental Review Process and the application of it to First Nations projects. The second part of the session will provide a brief introduction to the Impact Assessment Act and associated regulations and how they will affect the Environmental Review Process. Lastly, an update on the Solid Waste program will be provided with an overview on opportunities for funding.
What Participants will Learn by Attending
Participants will
- Gain a knowledge of how ISC conducts environmental reviews and what reports and requirements may be requested if involved in the review process;
- gain an understanding of the changes to the IAA that affect ISC’s review process;
- learn about the solid waste program and potential opportunities for funding for their communities.

Aaron O’Keefe is the Manager of Environment and Natural Resources Unit of ISC B.C. Region. Aaron recently started this position, having moved to Vancouver from ISC Manitoba.
